Trend Spotlight - The Right Florals

It seems florals are making a huge comeback, and I think it's a good extension of the 90's grunge trends that came back this past fall. It also adds a fun contemporary spin on outfits for those of us who are in love with head to toe boho. Here are a few examples of the latest florals from recent runway and street style moments.
(I love the idea of an unconventional way to wear floral. Print mixing can go beyond just apparel as seen here in this INSANE earrings and headband combination.)

Weekly Pinspiration: Florals, Coral, Sage

Spring or Something Like It

Every time someone mentions spring in January I have to laugh. While other states get a major change in season, we get sludge, cold, and clouds for two to three more months. While I get photos on my facebook news feed of out of state friends wearing dresses and light jackets and sporting light tans and sun hats, I am scraping ice off my windshield in my hunters and wool mittens.

This doesn't have to put a damper on spring style, if anything this weather makes spring looks more innovative and creative. My personal favorites are when I see bold layers and loads of accessories. With the fall '12 trends taking advantage of opulence, romantic lace, and deep jewel tones, I'm seeing a contrasting presence of light, flirty, girly layers with accents of jailbird stripes, heirloom lace and vintage-inspired accessories.

This look from Free People's January catalog is a great example. I LOVE the long floral slip under the stripes. The only thing this needs to become "Wisconsin Spring" appropriate is some great combat boots and a denim jacket.

Long Time No See

I suppose I could come back to the internet world after my month long graduation hiatus :)

While I was celebrating, lounging, yoga-ing, shopping, and reading for the last month, I gained some inspiration for how I will structure my posts to create more of a cohesive blog, as well as some ideas for new posts in the spring season we midwestern folk call "Winter-Part II".

So here's to a new year for everyone!

.... and I have to sneak in a dog pic... happy new year from miss Clementine too.
